More than 150 local residents of all ages took part in a community conference in Cruddas Park in November 2007 organised by Search and other local voluntary organisations.
The aim of the event was to bring residents together with key people from the City Council, health services, and other agencies to discuss issues of local concern such as bus services, shops, litter and rubbish, and provision for children and young people.

A big follow-up event to Mix and Match was held in May 2008 in Benwell Library to look at what had changed since the first community conference.
