Local History Groups

We have three groups: our Monday group, led by Sheila Wilson, meets on alternate weeks, as does our Friday group but they also take a bus trip out once a month to places of interest. This year they have enjoyed free entry to local National Trust properties including Wallington, Cragside, Gibside and Cherryburn.

These groups are very popular but if you are interested in joining one of them please let us know as we could put your name on a waiting list. It is a fun way to learn, make friends and also to get some fresh air and exercise.

West End Local History Group

Last year Search started a new local history group with support from the Community Heritage Project. The new West End Library provides a comfortable venue for the group which meets on the third Monday of each month at 1 p.m. New participants are very welcome - just turn up. Programmes of future local history talks are usually available at Search.
