Lillia Arts Group

The Lillia Arts Group meets every Wednesday at the Lillia Youth Centre on Whickham View from 10am - 12 noon. They are a friendly and supportive group, interested in practising and experimenting with ways of painting and drawing and learning new methods and materials, under the supervision of their teacher, Niki. She has been working with the group for nearly six years and is a practising artist.

The group paint and draw in a variety of media, particularly watercolour, acrylic and different pastels. They work from still images, from still life and even on location! They go out on a trip approximately once a term to galleries or to places of interest for the artist. Previous subjects covered range from 'The Tiger' using inks and pastels to contrasting effect, 'Zanzibar', painted using acrylic and looking at perspective and painting in gardens from life. Group members introduce subjects of their choice. Any artistic ideas are welcomed and incorporated into the group plan wherever possible.

This group is funded by the Workers Educational Association (WEA) and there is a small charge for each term.

New members would be made very welcome.
