Computer Classes

Search's computer training sessions take place in our bright and comfortable meeting room. Computer training sessions take place there on Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 10 am - 1pm.  The session is tailored to your individual needs and we can help you learn at your own pace. Contact Search to book your first session.

Do not be put off if you are a complete beginner -  we only have two or three students to each tutor so they can give you plenty of help and concentrate on your needs and interests.  If you want to learn to email your grandchildren in Australia we can help!

Search also hosts a Computer Club on Wednesdays 10am - 12.30pm. Whether you use computers already or are a complete beginner, feel free to drop in between those times. Our tutor will be on hand to help with general computer problems, you will be able to browse computer books and magazines, have a coffee, chat and compare ideas with other people.

To whet your appetite here are examples of work being done by some of our clients:

  • Some people have uploaded digital photos to an internet website. This is a free service and makes their photos accessible to friends and relatives living anywhere in the world.
  • Several clients have brought in their digital cameras for advice and to learn how to download, edit and print their photos.
  • Some users regularly plans their holidays using the internet to find out about places of interest, travel and accommodation.
  • Clients are guided by our tutor to explore online government sites including resources specifically tailored to the needs of people over the age of 50.

Each year, leading up to Christmas, we run workshops where people design and print their own Christmas cards and make personalised calendars using their own photographs.

We have also run short digital photography courses which have included a bus trip to a place of interest to take photos using Search's digital cameras and a session at Search to download and use the photos to make cards and calendars.
