Aromatherapy Massage
Fragrant oils have been used for thousands of years to lubricate the skin, purify infectious air and repel insects. However, aromatherapy as we know it today dates from the late 1930s. During an aromatherapy massage the therapist will rub diluted aromatic oil into the skin which may be either relaxing or stimulating depending on the type of oil used. Before the first treatment the therapist will ask you to fill out a medical history and together you can decide a suitable treatment. Some clients enjoy a relaxing massage while others prefer the therapist to target specific problems - many arthritis sufferers in particular report a great benefit in terms of pain relief.
Reflexology
Reflexology deals with the principle that in the feet and hands there are reflexes that correspond to all the glands, organs and parts of the body. The reflex areas feel tender when massaged if the corresponding body area is not working efficiently. Reflexology is a spec ific pressure technique that works on precise reflex points on the feet. The stimulation of the thousands of nerve endings in the feet releases tension and activtates the body's innate capacity for self-healing. The relaxing nature of a reflexology treatment helps to ease stress from mind and body with the aim of restoring harmony and balance.

Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a traditional hands-on Japanese healing therapy. It can help in a wide range of conditions - from specific injuries to more general symptoms of poor health. Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience and regular sessions help to prevent the build up of stress in our daily lives. The session usually takes place on a padded mat or futon at floor level, although it is possible to receive Shiatsu sitting on a chair if you are unable to lie down. The client stays fully clothed and we recommend you wear comfortable trousers and a long-sleeved shirt.
