Rookie Golf

Target golf is an activity that can be played at any indoor venue - from lounges at sheltered housing and community halls to sports centres - as well as outdoors. Using colourful velcro targets and lightweight balls, it is great fun and is proving very popular with older people. It can be played by people of all abilities, including wheelchair users.

Rookie Sports, in partnership with Search, have run taster sessions for a range of local groups, including Manisty House, Holywell Close, St Joseph's Home, Riverview Lodge and the Snowy Owls who meet at Westgate College. Matches have been held between some of the groups and these were so successful that a Target Golf League is now being developed.

This is what people have to say about Target Golf:

"The residents love it. Some of them can't got out, so for golf to be in the lounge is brilliant. It makes them feel young and it is different from the normal activities"

"It's a great opportunity to get together, have fun and laughter, share some interest"

If you would like to try Target Golf or are involved in a community group which may be interested in running sessions, please get in touch with Diana at Search.
